1385989 End-face seals WIBAU (WESTDEUTSCHE INDUSTRIE - UND STRASSEN - BAUMASCHINEN GmbH) 25 Aug 1972 [28 Aug 1971 25 May 1972] 39762/72 Heading F2B An end-face seal between a rotatable tubular member 1 and a further relatively stationary member 7 of, for example, a mixer comprises a rubbing ring 5 of heat-resistant plastics material having a smooth plane surface which slides in sealing engagement with a resilient sealing ring 4 in the form of first and second portions interconnected by an arcuate portion. The sealing ring 4 may be in the form of a bellows made of silicone rubber and the rubbing ring 5 may be made of plastics material reinforced with asbestos fibres, the latter being made segmental if desired to facilitate assembly. In a second embodiment, the sealing ring (4a) is in the form of a gas-filled tube secured to a mounting ring (3) by bolting or vulcanization.
