Abstract

1385587 I.C. engine air intake GENERAL MOTORS LTD 4 May 1973 [4 May 1972] 20842/72 Heading BIT [Also in Division F1] An internal combustion engine air cleaner has an air intake tube extension 3 which slides axially from a retracted to an extended position whereby cooler or warmer air is drawn in. Funnel shaped mouth 5 having neck 4 slides on radially projecting ribs 6 of intake tube 2 and is locked in an extended position by projection 9 of neck 4 engaging teeth 8 in tube 2. In the fixed retracted position where tube 2 is the effective intake the clips 12 of neck 4 engage projections 11 of intake tube 2. Tube 2 and extension tube 3 may be of moulded plastics material.
