Abstract
1385177 Anchoring stays SONDAGES INJECTIONS FORAGES SIF ENTERPRISE BACHY 16 May 1972 [2 June 1971] 28886/74 Divided out of 1384744 Heading F2H [Also in Division E1] To anchor a stay 12 in a drilled bore in ground 2, e.g. to retain sheet piles, a protective tube 3 having a stay 12 such as a bundle of wires 13 fastened therein at the inner (leading) part 4 of the tube by a fastening material 31 is inserted in the bore, an annular space 19 between the bore wall and the part 4 of the tube 3 is isolated from the outside by an annular seal 11, and a setting composition is injected from the interior of the tube 3 through holes 7 in the tube into the space 19 and the surrounding ground 20 to anchor the tube 3 in the ground. As shown, an injection tube 30 extends the whole length of the protective tube 3, being secured, e.g. by welding to its inner wall and being embedded in the material 31 within the part 4 of the tube 3. Holes 32 in the tube 30 correspond with the holes 7 in the tube 3. Each hole 7 is covered by a piece of foil 8 under an elastic sleeve 9 to form a non-return valve. The tube 3, of steel or plastics, may have a smooth outer surface, or have helical or other external ribs or projections. The seal 11 may be a resilient washer, or an inflatable annular tube. A head member 22 is connected to the tube 3 by a sleeve 23 and a sealing joint 24. A second injection tube 33 opens through the wall of the tube 3 into the annular space 18 axially outwards of the seal 11 to allow this space 18 to be filled with grout prior to injection of the setting composition into the space 19. In a modification (Fig. 5, not shown) injection of the setting composition is by a flexible injection tube (41) opening into the space between two pistons (43) fixed to the leading end thereof, the pistons (43) being slidable in a guide tube (40) secured in the protective tube 3. The tube (41) is moved to bring the pistons on either side of each hole 7 in turn.
