Abstract

1384845 Vehicle exterior rear view mirrors YMOS-METALLWERKE WOLF & BECKER GmbH & CO 11 May 1973 [27 May 1972 16 Nov 1972] 22504/73 Heading B7J A vehicle exterior rear view mirror comprises a foot 9 insertable into an aperture of the vehicle body work and supporting a pair of pivot spindles 10, 13 by which the mirror can pivot away from the normal position to position B and A respectively, each spindle having a spring 16, 17 surrounding it which biases the housing to its normal position, and there being a mirror glass 5 within the housing adjustable from within the vehicle. The adjustment takes place by movement of a lever 34 which passes through a locating ball 41 within foot 9 and is pivoted at 45 to a lever 35 slidable within a groove 37 of a ball end 38 of a lever 36, the lever 36 being pivoted to an intermediate piece 47 slidable along a guide 53 and connected to the mirror glass carrier 33. Movement of lever 34 in the direction of arrow a or rotation about the axis of lever part 39 causes , tilting of the mirror glass about ball 55 in two directions at right angles. The mirror casing includes a flexible part 27 attached by flange 26 to rigid casing part 25, the part 27 extending behind the mirror glass at 28 to form a cavity enclosing the operating parts of the mirror.
