Abstract

1384289 Moulding polyurethane foam RHONE-POULENC SA 30 Nov 1972 [1 Dec 1971] 55461/72 Heading B5A [Also in Divisions B2 and A4] In a method of making a polyurethane foam article having an integral skin and an outer coating of a mixed resin comprising a silicone resin, the walls of a silicone elastomer mould are coated with a solution of the mixed resin in an organic diluent and the diluent evaporated to form a film of resin on the walls, whereupon a conventional polyurethane composition which will react to produce a foam with an integral skin is introduced into the mould and foamed. The product may be used as anti shock packing or padding for arm rests, seats, handles or dashboards. The mixed resin may be a silicon alkyd resin (in xylene) or a silicone-epoxide resin (in toluene) and may include a pigment, a plasticizer, a flame-proofing agent, or a drying agent to accelerate curing.
