Abstract

1383318 Pyrimidines IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 17 July 1972 [9 Aug 1971] 37297/71 Heading C2C Novel pyrimidine derivatives I of general formula wherein R is alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl, and salts thereof, may be prepared by condensing nitroguanidine with the appropriately alphasubstituted acetoacetic ester. The novel compounds exhibit pesticidal properties. 2-Aminopyridines of general formula wherein R is an alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl radical containing up to 5C atoms, and R 1 and R 2 which may be the same or different, are hydrogen, C 1-5 alkyl or C 2-5 alkenyl, provided that R 1 and R 2 are not both ethyl or higher alkyl radicals, are prepared by reacting an appropriate novel pyrimidine of Formula I with an amine salt, other than a diethylamine or higher dialkylamine, salt, at a temperature which is above the fusion temperature of the salt, but below its decomposition temperature.
