Abstract

1383011 Preventing erosion O J FJORD LARSEN 9 Dec 1971 [11 Jan 1971 19 Jan 1971 13 March 1971 9 Oct 1971] 1290/71 6415/71 6814/71 and 47124/71 Heading E1H The Specification discloses modified devices of the kind disclosed in the parent Specification 1125863 for producing sedimentary deposits on the floor of a body of water. As shown in Pigs. 1 and 2 one embodiment comprises elongated sheets 5, attached to each other by lacing 6, supported by inflatable members 9 and secured by anchors 4 and ropes 3. The sheets are substantially impermeable to a horizontal flow, but allow sediment to settle. Other embodiments are described which have slots or holes allowing vertical flow but not horizontal. The holes are disposed so that they are more numerous towards the lower edges of the sheets. The sheets may comprise overlapping layers of mesh. The sheets may be supported by an underwater structure, e.g. a pipe-line or a continuous inflatable hose.
