Abstract
1382381 Feeding record tapes; reversible reel drives COMPUR-WERK GmbH & CO 23 March 1973 [14 April 1972] 14062/73 Heading G5R A reversible reel-drive tape transport for cassette apparatus, in which for forward transport one reel spindle 30w is driven by a friction drive and for reverse transport one other reel spindle 34w is driven through gearing, includes a movable flywheel 20 driven from a motor 16 and having a pin 22r and a toothed wheel 22 mounted thereon and rotating therewith, the flywheel being movable so that either the pin 22r frictionally engages a wheel 30 on the takeup shaft 30w, or teeth 22z of the wheel 22 mesh with a pinion 32 driving a gear 34 on the supply spindle 34w. The flywheel 20 is moved by a lever 28 which is pivoted about the spindle 34w and has an end 28b engaged by cam surfaces 40b-40d of a manual slide 40 (see Specification 1,382,382). The lever 28 is biased to the forward drive position (clockwise) by a spring 56 and by drive belt 18, which is elastic. The slide 40 also actuates: a lever 44 for moving a pre-erase head (not shown) into operation during recording; a main switch 42; and a switch 54 for switching an amplifier between record and playback modes. The wheel 22 is coupled to the flywheel 20 through respective toothed surfaces 22s, 20s thereof which are held in mesh by a spring 24. This drive connection slips when the spindles 30w, 34w stop at the end of a tape, providing an audible warning.
