Abstract

1381788 Charging coke ovens HARTUNG KUHN & CO MASCHINENFABRIK GmbH 17 May 1972 [17 May 1971] 23248/72 Heading F4B A device for charging coal into a horizontal coke oven comprises a movable extraction hood 18 extending between charging openings 22, 24 of adjacent ovens and carrying a telescopic shoot 7 the lower part 7b of which enters a charging port leaving a gap 23 through which charging gases may escape into the adjacent oven. Coal from the hopper 1 is discharged by a screw feed 2 and a valve 32 controlled by a fluid motor 34 into the shoot 7 the upper part 7a of which with the hopper is attached to the fixed part 4 of a slewing ring 6. The latter is supported by a ball race 5 and carries pivotal shafts 9 and 10 carrying levers 13 and 14 pivoted to rods 15 and 16 hinged at 15a and 16a to the hood 18. The levers 13 and 14 are actuated by a fluid motor 26 through piston-rod 27 and lever 28 the drive between the shafts 9 and 10 being by interengaging toothed segments 11 and 12.
