Abstract
1381545 Rotary percussive tool OLIN AUTHIER SA 10 March 1972 [16 March 1971] 11210/72 Heading B4C [Also in Division B3] A pressure fluid, e.g. air, operated tool comprises a trigger operated valve 3 for controlling supply of fluid to the tool, and means, e.g. a rotary tubular valve 10, for selectively admitting the fluid to a persussion motor 20, or to a rotary motor 24, or to both the motors. The piston 21 of percussion motor 20 applies impacts to the inner end of a tool bit (not shown), e.g. a pinch, chisel or drill, received in chuck 23 and retained therein by a spring member 33. The rotary valve 10 includes openings 12-16 (Figs. 1 and 2). With the valve 10 in the position of Fig. 1, fluid admitted via valve 3 can pass to both the motors whereas with openings 13 aligned with port 18 only the percussive motor will be actuated and with opening 16 aligned with port 19 only the rotary motor will be actuated. Opening 14 is aligned with a port (not shown) when both the motors are inoperative so as to permit the tool to be used to clear a drilled hole.
