1381369 Packaging sheet material AGFA GEVAERT AG 29 Dec 1972 [30 Dec 1971] 59966/72 Heading B8C A machine for packaging stacks of sheet form material 17 comprises a packaging film supply assembly 1, a grooving roller 3 for the film, a trapezoidal forming shoulder 4 for the film, an insertion zone 5 for the stacks, a forming box 7 for the film with a longitudinal seam-sealing attachment 8 arranged above it, a film crossseam sealing attachment 9 which is adapted during sealing to move in the film-feed direction so as to take over delivery of the film from the forming box 7, a separator 10 for severing the pack so formed, the forming shoulder and forming box being adapted to shape the film into trough shape, a stop rail 6 positioned adjacent the bottom and one of the edges of the trough, hooks 14 pivoted and arranged at intervals on a roller chain 12 to define compartments for the stacks, and a vertically displaceable stop 15 positioned at the delivery end of the insertion zone adapted to be lowered on to the bottom of the trough formed by the machine to align the forward edges of sheets 17 in the stack. As shown film material is guided to the zone 5 over rollers 2a, 2b and beneath the grooving roller 3 and is formed into a trough by the shoulder 4 and receives stacks of sheet-form material 17 before being drawn through the box 7 and longitudinally seamed (at 21, Fig. 6, not shown) and cross-sealed at 9. Separation into individual packs is effected by the separator 10. Compartments (16), Fig. 2a (not shown), into which the stacks are introduced manually into the trough are defined by the hooks 14 and the rail 6. The stop 15 is lowered into the trough for each stroke of the machine. After formation, the packs are removed by a conveyer 11.
