Abstract
1380351 Electric connections HEGO ELECTRIC GmbH 4 April 1973 [15 June 1972] 28185/72 Heading H2E A connector comprises an insulating housing with a cable receiving aperture 25 and a metal pin 4 adapted for endwise coaxial engagement with the conductor of the cable 15 and releasable gripping means mounted in or on the housing for holding the cable in engagement. The pin 4 is electrically connected to a metal bar 16, retained in the housing 1 comprising a recess 20 in which a gripping sleeve 18 is releasable retained by a tooth 21 on a resilient arm 22 engaging a notch 23. The sleeve 18 has the opening 25, an opening 26 for receiving the pin 4, and openings 27 for receiving the arms of a U- shaped spring 3 mounted on the pin 4. The sleeve 18 contains resilient fingers 28, toothed ends 29 of which grip the cable 15. In use, the sleeve is fitted over the cable until the end of the cable abuts the end of the sleeve with the cable held by the finger ends 29; the sleeve is inserted into the recess 20 so that the pin enters the end face of the cable conductor and the arms of the spring 3 hold the finger ends 29 against the cable. The bar 16 may have one or more additional pins 4 each with an associated housing cavity and sleeve so that two or more cables can be interconnected; alternatively the connector may include a solder tag or terminal connected to the pin 4. In another embodiment the gripping means comprise two pivotally mounted jaws (6, 8) instead of the sleeve described above.
