Abstract

1379418 Purifying fumes from oxygen refining plant INSTITUT DE RECHERCHES DE LA SIDERURGIE FRANCAISE 18 Dec 1972 [4 Jan 1972] 58278/72 Headings P4B and F4J Waste gases from an oxygen converter or continuous steel refining reactor 1 are collected in a hood 2 and fed to a combustion chamber 8 together with some of the polluted gases collected by hoods 9 and 10 at other places in the plant, and the burnt gases from the combustion chamber 8, having given up heat in the chamber to water or another medium requiring heating, are mixed with the remaining gases from the hoods 9, 10 and passed through a dust remover 17 to a stack 18. A wet dust remover 4 may be located between the converter, hood and the combustion chamber, and an explosion relief stack 7 and blowers 5, 12 are provided.
