Abstract
1379260 Pneumatic conveyers BRITISH HYDROMECHANICS RESEARCH ASSOCIATION 24 Nov 1972 [26 Nov 1971] 54999/71 Heading B8A A conduit in a pneumatic shuttle conveyer is provided with a current boosting means comprising fluid energizing means to withdraw carrying fluid through a suction port and reintroduce the fluid after energization, through an injection port axially spaced from the suction port and convergently inclined to the axis of flow in the conduit. In the figure, air is withdrawn from conduit 10 through divergently inclined circumferential suction port 11, through suction manifold 13 and pipe-line 16 to an electrically driven fan 15. The air is then reintroduced through injection manifold 14 and convergently inclined circumferential injection port 12 to convey material in carrier vehicles in the direction of the arrow. Further embodiments, not shown, permit diversion of the load to a branch conduit by providing greater suction and/or less injection on the same side of the main conduit as the branch conduit, and less suction and/or more injection on the other side of the main conduit; and conveying of the load in either direction by the provision of an injection port on both sides of the suction port. More than one such current boosting means may be provided along the conduit.
