Abstract

1379033 Catamenial appliances SOUTHALLS (BIRMINGHAM) Ltd 2 Feb 1972 [14 Dec 1971] 57990/71 Heading A5R A sanitary towel comprises, a flexible waterproof backing sheet 10 formed from a synthetic resin material on absorbent core 11 and a cover 12 which is shorter than the backing sheet, extending over one side and around the edges of the core and is releasably secured on the other side of the core to the backing sheet by adhesive, the core being shorter than the backing sheet and the cover which are joined by adhesive at overlapping end portions. The core and backing sheet are -joined by adhesive across the full width of the towel at its ends. Double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive tape 13 may be fitted to the backing sheet to fix the towel to the wearer's undergarment. After use the core and cover are removed from the backing sheet and disposed of. The backing sheet may be of low density polythene, pvc, acrylic, polyamide or polyester film and the core composed of pulverised wood cellulose. The cover is a soft non-woven or other moisture pervious fabric.
