Abstract

1378874 Organopolysiloxane coated sodium tripolyphosphate DOW CORNING Ltd 22 June 1972 [1 July 1971] 30964/71 Heading C1A [Also in Divisions C5 and C3] Granular or powdered sodium tripolyphosphate has a surface coating of an organopolysiloxane anti-foam. The polyphosphate, which may be mixed together with 1-10% by wt. of a finely divided filler, may be prepared by either (a) contacting the anhydrous polyphosphate with an aqueous emulsion of the polysiloxane or (b) mixing together the anhydrous polyphosphate with a sheared polysiloxane; the filler being added to the polysiloxane prior to mixing with the polyphosphate. The organopolysiloxane may be a diorganopolysiloxane containing alkyl, alkaryl, alkenyl, aralkyl, or aminoalkyl radicals, end-stopped with OH or triorganosiloxy radicals, and have a viscosity of 50-5000 cS, and be present in up to 60% by wt. of the polyphosphate. The filler may be fume or precipitated SiO 2 or fume Al 2 O 3 and have a surface area of 50-225 m.<SP>2</SP>/g.
