Abstract

1378789 Ignition compositions SOC NATIONALE DES POUDRES ET EXPLOSIFS 12 July 1972 [19 July 1971] 32560/72 Heading C1D [Also in Division F3] A pyrotechnic lacquer comprises a dispersion of 5-99À5% by weight of a finely divided pyrotechnic composition in 95-0À5% of a solution of a nitrocellulose/nitroglycerine powder in a volatile solvent; the pyrotechnic composition is a mixture of potassium perchlorate and aluminium, a mixture of potassium perchlorate, iron oxide and magnesium, black powder, or a mixture of zirconium, barium chromate, ammonium perchlorate and ammonium bichromate. The nitrocellulose may be dissolved in acetone or methyl ethyl ketone. To form an igniter, the lacquer is applied as a coating to a block of solid propellant (see Division F3), and the solvent evaporated. The lacquer may also be applied to the outer wall of the vaporizable liquid chamber of the gas generator described in Specifications 1,368,504 and 1,371,506.
