Abstract

1378670 Chimney tops M H ZANIEWSKI 7 Sept 1972 [8 Sept 1971] 41490/72 Heading F4J Apparatus fixed to the top of a chimney 7 or 8 for inducing draught therein comprises a frustoconical skirt 1 with a lower concave portion 2 surmounted by at least two further curved portions of smaller diameter one concave and the other convex. The apparatus is covered by a plate 9 having a central opening 13 incorporating a lid with a frusto-conical boss 14, said plate having struts 10 formed with lower ring clips receiving a retaining band 11 and spikes 12 engaging the chimney. In a modification, Fig. 3, a wind-driven centrifugal turbine 16 has rotor blades 15 associated with spaced frusto-conical members 17 creating currents 18 in the chimney to further induce the draught. An electric motor driven radial flow fan, Fig. 4, may be installed at a bend in the flue. (For Figures see next column.)
