Abstract

1378389 Crash restraint bags IRVIN INDUSTRIES Inc 16 Dec 1971 [24 Dec 1970] 58522/71 Heading B7B [Also in Division D1] An inflatable occupant restraint bag for a motor vehicle consists at least in part of a woven stretch fabric which is permeable to the fluid for inflating the bag and which stretches on occupant impact to increase the permeability. The fabric may have stretch warp threads and non- stretch weft threads, or vice versa, or may be wholly composed of stretch threads. A spandex thread may constitute the stretch material and nylon the non-stretch material, the fabric having rapid recovery from stretching so that the permeability is decreased on relief of the impact thus allowing for any secondary impact.
