Abstract

1378195 Ferrite magnets DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 8 June 1973 [31 May 1972] 25537/72 Heading C1J [Also in Division H1] A permanent magnet is compacted of a pressure sintered mixture of a particulate high coercivity component and a particulate high magnetization component of particle size less than 10 microns. The high coercivity particles may be RCO 5 wherein R is a rare earth or an alloy of the same; preferentially Sm, PrSm, LaSm, CeSm, CuCe or Cu-Mischmetall; or alternatively ferromagnetic oxides, e.g. Ba and Sr ferrites; while the high magnetization component may be powdered Fe. The mixture may alternatively contain a binder, e.g. glass, epoxy resin, plastic, wax or rubber, and after hot press compaction may be poled in a strong magnetic field. The particles may be magnetically oriented before compaction, and the hot pressing may be effected in an inert atmosphere, e.g. He
