Abstract

1377988 Kiln car superstructures N STEULER 17 Dec 1971 [23 Dec 1970] 58634/71 Heading F4B A kiln car superstructure comprises U- shaped supports 1 each leg 1b of which has upper shoulders 1f on which seat horizontal ladder-like support members 2. Alternate rings 2a of members 2 are formed with slots engaging the tops of the legs 1b and the web portions 1d of said U-shaped supports 1 engage gaps 3a formed by glazed tiles 3. The latter are placed face downwards on an insulating layer 4 on the car platform and on the first pass through the kiln the glazed surface frits anchoring the tiles. One or both legs 1b may be inclined as shown at 1c.
