Abstract

1377705 Vehicle door handles CHRYSLER FRANCE 14 June 1972 [2 Aug 1971] 27737/72 Heading E2A A vehicle door handle combined with a manual actuator locatable in a recess in a door under a stationary cover plate and accessible from underneath thereof, the actuator comprising a press plate 13 for the control of the door fastening mechanism, the press plate being pivotally mounted under the cover plate 12 adjacent the free edge 14 thereof and provided with a torsion spring 15 urging the press plate to its lower position substantially perpendicular to the cover plate, the press plate when pressed to release the door fastening mechanism rotates through about 90‹ to abut the inner surface of the cover plate. The press plate is pivotally mounted by means of sleeves 20, 21 engaging in pairs of bores in the press plate and cover plate. The ends of the spring 15 are inserted into the sleeves and into a groove 17 in an enlarged portion of the press plate. The spring 15 has two curved portions 15a, 15b which bear upon the cover plate and press plate respectively whereby the press plate is urged to be at 90‹ to the cover plate. The press plate may be moulded in plastics integrally with an actuating rod 16. The cover plate has bosses 18 for bolts for securing the cover plate to the vehicle door.
