1377275 N - o - cyanophenyl - N<SP>1</SP>,N<SP>1</SP> - disubstituted formamidines BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 29 March 1972 [31 March 1971] 14703/72 Heading C2C N - o - Cyanophenyl - N<SP>1</SP>,N<SP>1</SP> - disubstituted formamidines of the formula or a salt thereof of formula in which R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are identical or different alkyl groups, one of the groups may also be phenyl, or R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> together with the nitrogen are a heterocyclic saturated ring, R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> are each H, Hal, alkyl, alkoxy, CN or NO 2 and X is an acid radical capable of forming an anion, is produced when an anthranilamide of formula in which R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> have the meanings given above, is reacted with an N,N-disubstituted formamide chloride of formula in which R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> have the meanings given above or with a reaction product of an N,N- disubstituted formamide of formula in which R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> have the above meanings with an acid chloride. The process is preferably carried out in an inert organic solvent at a temperature range of from about 15‹ to 100‹ C.
