Abstract

1377066 Rolling FORMFLO Ltd 28 Sept 1972 [2 Aug 1971] 36299/71 Heading B3M [Also in Division F2] An annular inner or outer bearing race is roll-formed from a powder metal blank which is initially compacted and sintered to have a density of at least 98% of the theoretical maximum. Figs. Al to ID, show the stages in rolling a blank 10 on a mandrel 12 to a finished inner ring, the rolling being cold, warm, or hot. The metal of the blank may be of SAE 4600, SAE 8600, SAE 52100, EN31, EN32A or EN24, and may have a percentage elongation of 9 to 12%.
