Abstract

1376482 Phenylalkanoic acid esters CIBAGEIGY AG 26 June 1972 [1 July 1971] 29861/72 Heading C2C [Also in Divisions C3 and C5] Novel compounds of Formula I (in which each of R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> is C 1-4 alkyl, X is OH, OMe or OEt, a is 2 to 6, n is 1 to 9 and m is 1 or 2, provided that n is 3 to 9 when X is OH). are prepared by reacting a compound of Formula II (in which Y is OH, Cl or C 1-6 alkoxy), with a compound of formula HO[O(CaH 2a )] n X using known esterification methods. Compounds I are useful for stabilizing organic materials, e.g. alkyleneglycols and their monoethers, against oxidative deterioration.
