Abstract

1375361 Keyboards WINSTON ELECTRONICS Ltd 5 Jan 1972 [5 Oct 1970] 47243/70 Heading G4H In keyboard apparatus, depression of any one key causes capacitative coupling between an A.C. source and a coded combination of one or more output channels. Each key lever has 12 holes and 12 guide notches, and tabs are clipped into a unique combination of these. Each tab bears two connected metal-coated areas, so that when the key is depressed, the tab descends between two transducer strips, and the areas provide capacitative coupling between coplanar input and output regions on the strips. Each strip has, on one surface, the input region connected to an oscillator and the output region connected to a detector in the output channel to produce D.C., the two regions being separated by an earthed region which also extends to the other side of the output region. The other surface of the strip is a single earthed region, and contacts the similar surface of the next strip (so that the two are back-to-back). Roller or sliding pellet mechanical interlock is provided to prevent more than one key being depressed at a time.
