Abstract

1375258 Winching spools with a predetermined length of wire MAILLEFER SA 21 Dec 1972 [23 Dec 1971] 59115/72 Headings D1F and D1J A control device for the transfer operation in a continuous wire winding machine for winding accurately predetermined lengths of wire comprises a counter for pulses proportional to the length of wire delivered to the winder, means to double the count rate and prevent counting during the back travel of a traverse member, a control element actuated by the counter after a predetermined length of wire is delivered to the winder which reverses the direction of traverse and means to initiate transfer when the back traverse is completed. A first length control element is provided which initiates the double count when a length of at least 9/10 of the desired total length has been wound. Fig. 2 shows the circuit of the control device in which pulses are generated by a cam disc 11 driven indirectly by the wire 8. Switch d 33 serves to double the count rate and switch d 32 diverts the 'pulses through switch d 12 which closed during one direction of traverse only. The pulses are counted by a summing device h and relay d 4 operates the transfer mechanism. Relays d 1 and d 2 co-operate with end of traverse switches b 1 and b 2 to operate the traverse mechanism. In an alternative embodiment (not shown) the counter emits a signal of frequency proportional to the wire length and a divider by two is provided between the pulse actuator and the counter.
