Abstract
1373405 Self-propelled projectiles ARGENTINE MINISTRY OF DEFENSE 19 Oct 1971 [19 Oct 1970] 48579/71 Heading F3A A self-propelled projectile for firing from a helically rifled weapon comprises a body 1 having a calibre equal to or less than the diameter defined by the lands in the bore of the weapon and an integral terminal flange 6 of greater diameter than the lands, whereby, on firing, the flange is bit and deformed by the lands and the projectile body is expanded under the pressure of the propellant gases and engages the lands to spin the projectile as it travels through the bore. The priming means 3 is located at either end of the propellant cavity 2 and the remnants thereof are arranged to be expelled from the muzzle of the weapon. The projectile body is made of brass alloy.
