The pump 48 may have axialflow-type blades or a helical blade. The rotary housing and feed means may be driven by separate shafts, by a common shaft or the feed means may be driven by a shaft and the housing driven by the liquid issuing from the feed means. The pump assembly may be mounted on a toroidal float 65 to form a floating assembly for use in wells.
