Abstract
1372651 Tubular heat exchangers JUNKERS & CO GmbH 28 Jan 1972 [29 Jan 1971] 4006/72 Heading F4S In a heat exchanger in which heating gases (e.g. from a burner) flow over an externally finned sinuous water tube 12, the tube is made of a material (e.g. copper) which is corrosion resistant to water, and the fins 13, which are soldered to the tube, are made of a metal (e.g. chrome steel) which has a lower heat conductivity than copper and which is corrosion resistant to the heating gases, a collar 131 encircling and also being soldered to the tube between adjacent fins; and the proportions being such that the product of the greatest distance a between the fin edge facing the gas stream to the nearest watercooled surface and the distance b between the fins, divided by the thickness d of the fin, is equal to or less than 63 m.m. (the dimensions a, b and d being in millimetres). In the form shown each fin extends over all the tube runs and the collars 131 are integral with the fins. The fins are initially provided with a galvanic coating of copper which is subsequently removed from the solder free surfaces of the fins by an etching operation.
