Abstract

1372157 Fettling apparatus STEEL PLANT SERVICES (ROTHERHAM) Ltd 7 March 1973 11082/73 Heading F4B Fettling apparatus for making or repairing a furnace lining comprises a hopper 2 having an outlet 3 to a chamber 4 below which is a rotatable plate 5 having upstanding blades 6. The plate 5 is attached to a shaft 7 on which is mounted a screw feeder 11. As the shaft 7 rotates refractory material is fed from the hopper by the feeder 11 into chamber 4, where water fed to inlets 15 by a supply pipe 12 mixes with the material forming a slurry. The slurry passes to the rotating plate 5 which projects it in a horizontal direction, against the walls of the furnace. If this operation is carried out immediately after tapping of the furnace the slurry is almost instantaneously dried by the furnace walls.
