Abstract

1371425 Panels; wall constructions H E TOMKINS 13 April 1972 [15 April 1971] 17030/72 Heading E1B Composite panels 20, 22, 23 for wall constructions each comprise an extruded aluminium edge strip 30 down each side, the edge strips being identical and being shaped so as to interlock with each other in parallel via flanges 50, 51, and having two pairs of parallel flanges 36, 44 for receiving the edges of boards 24, 26. Outer board 24 is preferably plywood, and inner board 26 particle board. Polystyrene board 28 or polyurethane is sandwiched between the boards. The inner and outer boards 24, 26 are staggered vertically to allow board 24 to be nailed to a sill board (14), Fig. 2 (not shown), and board 26 to be nailed to a top plank (66). A fixing bolt may be passed down through passage 54. A corner joint includes a self-tapping screw 160 which passes into a rigid layer 56 of, e.g. concrete. Wooden bolts 106, 150 are employed to cover the joints.
