Abstract
1371321 Joint making packing; pipe couplings GENERAL CONNECTORS CORP 9 April 1973 [13 April 1972] 16913/73 Headings F2B and F2G A ring 6 for sealing a conduit fitting 1 to a connector sleeve 5, e.g. in an aircraft ducting system, comprises elastomer-impregnated fabric laminations 7, e.g. of glass cloth impregnated with a silicone elastomer, the ring 6 being deformed from a divergent cross-section to a generally U-shaped one when placed in sealing position. A pad 12 of the elastomer engages the sleeve 5, sealing engagement being maintained by an expander loop 13, e.g. of piano wire, and the pressure within the conduit, which acts through holes 4 in a flange 2 of the fitting 1.
