Abstract
1370827 Honing machine control MASCHINENFABRIK GEHRING KG 28 Jan 1972 [30 Jan 1971] 3998/72 Heading B3D A drive arrangement for traversing a rotary or other honing tool 12 includes control means whereby, immediately prior to commencement of reverse traversing movement, such movement can be delayed for a preselected time. The hone 12 is advanced by pressure P directed from an inlet 1 through a passage 3 to a cylinder chamber 6, fluid from a lower chamber 7 exhausting through passages 4, 23 and a regulator 25 for governing the advance rate. As shown at the end of the stroke, a cam 10 co-operates with a member 17b to shift a valve 17, so that the input pressure P is connected to a line 19 and a previously, pressurized passage 20 to drain, and a main valve 2 is shifted, Fig. 2 (not shown). Pressure from the inlet 1 then acts through the passage 4, the passage 3 being connected to a line 24, which remains blocked by a delay control valve 29 with the hone 12 in a dwell condition. A passage 21 branching from the line 19 leads pressure through a valve 32 and regulator 34 to the control valve 29, the valve 29 being shifted at a rate governed by the regulator 34 so that the line 24 becomes connected with a passage 26, Fig. 3 (not shown), the chamber 6 being thus connected to exhaust through the regulator 25, so that the hone up-stroke is initiated after the required dwell period. To terminate the upstroke, Fig. 4, a cam 11 contacts the member 17b, shifting the valve 17 to its initial position, the passage 20 being pressurized and the line 19 connected to exhaust so that the valve 29 is returned to its initial position. To inactivate the control valve 29 when no dwell is required, the valve 32 may be shifted by electromagnetic means 37, so that pressure through an inlet 31 acts on the valve 29 to maintain a permanent connection between the line 24 and passage 26, c.f.. Fig. 3 (not shown), The dwell time may, further, be modified by adjustment of the valve 34 or a stop screw 30, and the valve 17 may be replaced by electric, pneumatic or mechanical reversing control means.
