1370515 Vehicle roof lining; vehicle roofs DAIMLER-BENZ AG 28 April 1972 [5 May 1971] 19891/72 Headings B7J and B7B In a vehicle body such as a lorry driver's cab, a roof (comprising a frame having a roof skin stretched over it on the outside) is provided with a head lining 1 in the form of a downwardly-open dish member with downwardly-extending edges 2 at the front, 3 at the sides and 4 at the rear, the front edge 2 being adjacent to but spaced from a front transverse girder 5 of the roof frame and having at least one cut-out 11 therein, and a section 6 projecting forwardly underneath the front girder 5 from the bottom of the front edge 2 at substantially the level of the underside of the girder 5. The cut-outs 11 serve as access apertures for a storage space 10 between edge 2 and girder 5, and/or as mounting apertures for additional instruments such as a radio. The section 6 may be connected to the girder 5 at 7 or may be extended and held by a rubber glazing member 9 which retains the windscreen 8. The rear edge 4 abuts the front surface of a rear transverse girder (20), Fig. 4 (not shown), of the roof frame, and the side edges 3 are fixed to side girders (15), Fig. 2 (not shown), which form the upper parts of respective side door frames. Flaps covering the cut-outs 11 may be fixed to the lining 1 and sun visors may be swivelably mounted at 13, both flaps and visors being mounted at bent-out pieces integral with the lining 1. Interior lighting equipment may be received by an aperture 33 in the rear edge 4. The lining between its edges may be provided in region 30 with stiffening ribs 31 extending longitudinally of the vehicle and embossed upwardly, and with perforations 32. If the roof skin has a hatch therein, the lining 1 has a corresponding cut-out 24 with bent-up edges 251 which may be joined to the edges (28), Fig. 6 (not shown), of the roof skin (26) surrounding the hatch by a sealing strip (29).
