Abstract

1370031 Handling stockings VSESOJUZNY NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT TRIKOTASHNOI PROMYSHLENNOSTI 3 Aug 1972 [4 Aug 1971 21 Feb 1972] 36272/72 Heading B8A Stockings 44 are carried by a stream of air into chamber 1 through inlet duct 3. The air stream is divided into streams A and B by strip 32 such that the leading end of the stocking is carried in stream A on to baffle 8 and held there partly by the partial vacuum created by the stocking which partially covers the baffle. Stream B is thus increased and has enough force to turn the stocking around the end of the strip (which end is preferably covered with a high friction material). When the stocking has been spread as shown in Fig. 6c, valve 11 in the air outlet is closed and flap 2 forming the base of chamber 1 is opened to release the stocking to container 45. Baffle 9 at the outlet end of the chamber prevents stockings from fouling the outlet duct. Strip 32 may extend the length of the chamber if preferred (see Fig. 7, not shown).
