Abstract

1369710 Power boats L KUHN 11 July 1972 [15 July 1971] 32310/72 Headings B7M and B7V A device for improving the skimming ability of a power boat 1 comprises a set of plates 11, 12, 13 which act to direct a streamline flow of water on to the propeller 9 and which also have a trimming action to assist in raising the stern of the boat. The upper plate 11 is U-shaped in plan with its limbs trailing. The other plates are rectangular. The spacing between the plates decreases towards their rear edges. The lower may be bent about their fore and after centre lines, Fig. 3 (not shown), so that the spacing between the plates also decreases towards their lateral edges. All the plates may be bent about their centre lines if this is necessary to follow the bottom of the boat, Fig. 5 (not shown). The plates are carried by arms 19 which may be such that the inclination of the plates can be adjusted.
