Abstract

1369093 Freezing food HALL-THERMOTANK INTERNATIONAL Ltd 31 Jan 1972 [1 Feb 1971] 3564/71 Heading F4H A thermally insulated cooling chamber 1 with air coolers 6 and fans 7 has an upper powered slat conveyer 2 for leading carriers on which articles 13 to be cooled or frozen, e.g. birds or pre-packed meals are positioned from a loading/unloading region to a hoist 4 which transfers the carriers to a lower powered slat conveyer 3 which leads the carriers to a hoist 5 for conveying the carriers back to the conveyer 2. The end of the chamber adjacent the hoist 5 has an inlet and outlet opening (not shown) having associated therewith supply and discharge conveyers 11, 12 having parts 11a, 12a respectively movable relative to their conveyers, on which parts projections are locatable in holes 9a formed in the frame 9 of a carrier when located on the hoist 5. The hoists 4, 5 each comprise a supporting platform which is movable between spaced apart limit positions, e.g. by piston-incylinder assemblies in which positions the plaform is aligned with the upper and lower conveyers 2, 3 and the platforms are formed as powered roller conveyers to assist in loading and unloading.
