Abstract

1367701 Filter assembly MICROFLOW Ltd 18 Jan 1972 [6 Jan 1971] 638/71 Headings B1D and B1T A filter, particularly for the inlet or outlet side of a respiratory anaesthetic machine, comprises a metal casing 2 and a disposable end closure 12 and filter element 26, element 26 being permanently sea ed to the closure 12 by moulded epoxy resin 34a. The closure 12 itself is made of plastics ar d demountably secured to casing 2 by toggle atches 10 on a separate ring and encircling 1 ae casing. Element 26 comprises a pleated a annulus 32 of glass fibre paper supported between perforate plastics tubes 28, 30. The element and closure assembly is supplied in a polyethylene bag sterilised by irradiation, and flow is inwards through the element. Casing 2 is sterilised by steam between removing one element 26 and inserting another, anc may have an electric heater to prevent con@ensation when used on the exhaling side. In Fig. 2, not shown, a plurality of filter elements are sealed to a common end closure for use in a common casing.
