Abstract

1366817 Dispensing liquids by gaseous pressure ROOT-LOWELL MFG CO 26 Oct 1972 49388/72 Heading F1R A compressed gas operated sprayer comprises a removable pump 16, Fig. 2, and an annular seal 54 between a cap 24 of the pump, and the edge of a circular opening 40. To assemble the sprayer the handle 20 is locked to a bracket 26 by the action of a spring 30 which urges diametrically arranged lugs 28, Fig. 6, against the underside of the bracket 26. With the seal 54 in position in the opening 40, the cap 24 and pump 16 are lowered until tabs 68 engage a flange 44, the cap and pump are rotated until the tabs 68 slip under lips 50, then lowered to the position of Fig. 4 and finally rotated so that the tabs 68 are under the flange 44, (Fig. 6). In this position the cap has free movement between the seal 54 and flange 44. To pressurize the tank 12 the handle 20 is freed by rotation, and reciprocated so that the pressure causes pump 16 and its cap 24 to rise resulting in the free edges of the tabs 68 being forced into the corner of flange 44. A portion of the seal engaging the cap rising therewith as the free movement is taken up. A pressure relief valve 38 is provided.
