Abstract

1366002 Moving band press filter H H BURCKHARDT H M KURTZ and M KURTZ [trading as HERMANN FINCKH METALLTUCH und MASCHINENFABRIK] 30 June 1972 [1 July 1971] 30695/72 Heading BID A paper pulp web 12 is carried by endless sieve belt 10 under a foraminous pressing belt 22, supporting rollers 14, 16, 18, 20 being so arranged that belts 10, 22 run parallel to each other between rollers 18, 16, and belt 22 has edge bands (22a) which are received in grooves at the ends of rollers 18, 20 or in separate discs. If bands (22a) run in grooves in separate discs, these discs are urged away from the rollers by springs or pneumatic/hydraulic rams to tension the belt 22. Alternatively a gear system (Fig. 4 not shown) enables rollers 18, 20 to be urged apart and the bands run in grooves on the rollers. Belt 22 can be diagonally cut bronze, stainless steel or plastics mesh, so that tension one way results in tension perpendicular thereto. Rollers 14, 20 are rubber-coated, roller 20 being driven and having helical grooves to prevent belt 22 from creasing. Rollers 16, 18 are perforated. Roller 16 runs over a fixed suction nozzle 16b. Roller 18 throws up water pressed from the paper into receiver 34a. Another receiver 36 receives spray from belt 22, and a third receiver 34 catches wash liquid directed from nozzle 32 through the belt. Nozzle 30 directs steam onto belt 22 to separate the pressed paper web therefrom.
