Abstract

1365892 Foam generator WALTER KIDDE CO Ltd 27 Aug 1971 [2 Sept 1970] 42077/70 Heading B1C A fire foam generator comprises a Francis turbine 3 driving a fan (6a, Fig. 2 not shown) arranged to blow air through a screen 11 on to which liquid is sprayed by nozzles 10 connected to the turbine outlet conduit, the pressure in which is maintained constant by a pressure-relief valve 13. Foaming agent may be supplied to the water upstream of the turbine, or drawn from a container 17 by a venturi 15 in the conduit 7; in this case foam formation may be stopped temporarily by opening the valve 18 to allow air to be drawn into the venturi.
