Abstract

1365853 Monitoring data processors SIEMENS AG 24 Jan 1973 [1 Feb 1972] 3524/73 Heading G4A [Also in Division H4] In a stored programme controlled exchange in which the central processor periodically sets up internal audits except when it is subject to a heavy load condition, an external monitor is provided for interrupting the processor and causing it to perform a self-check in the event that more than a predetermined number of audits are neglected. If a satisfactory result is not then obtained from the processor the monitor actuates an alarm and/or switches in a duplicate processor. A counter or a timing circuit that is zeroed every time a satisfactory audit is announced may be used to monitor said predetermined number. To prevent mad programme loops from heavily loading the processor while not revealing any faults during an error checking audit, the current programme number may be sent to the monitor every time it demands an audit whereby repeated occurrences of a same programme number institutes the alarm.
