Abstract
1363373 Measuring velocity or acceleration FIAT SpA 20 March 1972 [30 March 1971] 12930/72 Heading G4H Apparatus for measuring the velocity or acceleration of a member includes a reversible counter 2 (Fig. 1) receiving on its incrementing input 4 pulses from a transducer 3 representing the movement of the member, these pulses also being applied indirectly via a delay 5 to the decrementing input 6 of the counter. Consequently, after the delay, the counter measures either the velocity of the member, or, if it is periodically reset by an oscillator 7, acceleration. The count may be displayed or fed out via a resistive digital/analogue converter 11, trigger circuit 12 and amplifier 13 to control a load 40. The delay is preferably a quadrupole of the T-type controlled by the oscillator 7. The output of the transducer 1 which is preferably a toothed wheel is fed via monostable trigger 3 to shape the pulses applied to the counter and delay.
