Abstract

1363114 Lapping gears WERKZEUGMASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON-BUHRLE AG 26 Oct 1971 [3 Nov 1970] 49608/71 Heading B3D Apparatus particularly for lapping helical bevel gears, Fig. 1 (not shown), by means of a lapping movement including two perpendicular reciprocatory components H, J comprises respective spring biased electromagnet control units for each component H, J each unit including means for changing the velocity of movement during a cycle of reciprocation to effect lapping movement along a required line (p), Fig. 3 (not shown). The gears 1, 2 are supported by respective spindles 10, 17 the latter mounted in a block 16 vertically movable on rails 15 of a block 13, in turn horizontally guided on rails 14, while the spindle 10 is mounted in a headstock 9 adjustable on rails 8a. In operation, one spindle 10 is driven by a motor 12 while the other 17 is braked by an hydraulic brake 18, respective control signals W H , W J from a generator 34, and actual valve transmitter 33 along with signals X H , X J from transmitters 31 monitoring movement on the axes H, J, being fed to comparators 32 controlling hydraulic valve means 28 for effecting each component of movement. For movement on the axes H, J, the spindles 10, 17 each mount piston portions 22 defining annular chambers 24, 25 and end faces 29 for co-operating with sensing means of the transmitters 31, the chambers 24, 25 being connected by lines 26, 27 to the valve means 28 for reciprocation. For movement of the block 16 along a perpendicular axis V a piston 56 is operable by further respective valve means 28, a limit switch 53 co-operating with a transmitter feeler 54 to produce a signal X v which is fed to a further respective comparator 32 connected to said valve means 28 and comparing X v with a control voltage W v derived from the actual valve transmitter 33.
