Abstract

1362306 Gas scrubber GOTTFRIED BISCHOFF BAU KOMPL GASREINIGUNGSUND WASSERRUCKKUHLANLAGEN KG 14 March 1972 [16 March 1971 11 May 1971] 11726/72 Heading B1R A gas scrubber in an extraction pipe 1 for blast furnace throat gas comprises a conical element 4 located in a correspondingly conical part 5 of pipe 1, and which tapers in the direction of gas flow to a substantially cylindrical pressure reducing component 7 located in a cylindrical part of the pipe to thus define a gap 8, wherein the element 4 (with component 7) is axially displacable to vary the annular gap 6. Scrubbing liquid is provided by nozzle 12, guide plates 13 are fitted at an angle to the longitudinal axis to the pipe 1, and vanes 11, at a reverse angle to plates 13, are provided on component 7. A diffuser in the form of diverging passages 16 is provided downstream of the gap 8. In another embodiment several conical elements may be provided upstream of the cylindrical component 7.
