Abstract

1362375 Fibre coated filter paper; air filter I T T INDUSTRIES Inc 18 June 1971 [20 June 1970] 28744/71 Headings BIT and B2E A composite filtering material includes a filter paper and a plurality of fibres attached thereto by adhesive and projecting from a side of the paper. The filtering material may be fabricated by deposition of an adhesive in a predetermined pattern onto a surface of filter paper and bringing fibres into contact with the adhesive such that they project therefrom Reference is made to the deposition of rayon fibres about 1 mm. long and 0.3-0.4 mm. diameter onto sheet filter paper, which may thereafter be cut and pleated to provide air filters suitable for use in I.C. engines. Blowing or electrostatic action may be used to orient the fibres into projecting portions.
