Abstract

1362348 Latches ITT INDUSTRIES Inc 27 July 1972 [30 July 1971] 35090/72 Headings E2A and E2B [Also in Divisions A5 and B4] A device comprises a latch mechanism retaining a pair of side members 34, 36 in a first predetermined position comprises a bracket portion 42 having a slot 62 and an adjacent reduced width slot 64 and having an end wall 66, the bracket portion projecting from one member 34 and a lipped spring portion 44 having a reduced width section 92 and a lip surface 102, the portion 44 projecting from the member 36 the lip surface 102 engages with the end wall 66 when the members are in the first predetermind position further movement of the members towards each other allows the section 92 and a longer lipped portion 94, to pass through the slot 64 and the adjacent slot 62 to enable the members to move apart to the position shown in Fig. 2. When the members are latched together two semi cylindrical portions attached to the ends of the members are spaced apart and when the members are unlatched the portions forming of the tip 68 are in contact. The latch mechanism is applicable to an insertion-extraction tool, to a haemostatic clamp or to a cabinet latch.
