Abstract
1361280 Endless conveyers GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA 23 Aug 1971 [23 Sept 1970] 39439/71 Heading B8A [Also in Division E1] Mining apparatus to locate a drive motor 10 and tension an endless conveyer (not shown) comprises a beam 12 along which the motor 10 is slidable by an hydraulic jack 13, to advance, for example, the conveyer towards the mine face. Opposite ends of the beam 12 are secured, via a flexible coupling 15, to a plate 16 movable within a housing 17 by an hydraulic jack 18 to thereby tension the conveyer belt. Each housing 17 mounts a prop 26 to bear on the roof of the mine and fix the position of the housing against the forces applied thereto by the conveyer. A spring 28 ensures the prop 26 adopts an inclined attitude. In a further embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), the beam (12) is directly coupled to the plate (16) and the prop (26) is mounted on a base-plate (30) secured to the housing (17) by a flexible coupling (15).
