Abstract

1360971 Viewing apparatus; stereoscopes G DAVIES and H WERTHEIMER 26 July 1971 [29 July 1970 5 May 1971 24 May 1971] 36759/70 13246/71 and 16542/71 Heading G2J Apparatus, e.g. for reading printed material 24 too fine to read with the naked eye, has a base 12 embodying magnetized material, a holder supporting at least part of means for magnifying material to be viewed, e.g. a lens, and a support 14 extending between the holder and the base and capable of adjustment to alter the height between the base and the holder. A magnetic sheet 27 may be placed beneath the document 24, and strips of differently polarized magnetic material on both the base and the sheet may interact to allow movement along columns 28, but make cross-column movement more difficult. The document to be read may be printed on polyethylene sheet in stereoscopic pairs. The height adjustment may be by rotation of the base and holder against friction, adjustable stop 26 being provided. The eye-piece spacing may be adjustable as by moving collar 23 to press spring- arms forming support 14. The holders may be formed by plates 21 rivetted together near the arms 18, lenses being admitted into the holes by springing apart plates 21 and introducing the lenses. The holders are preferably of transparent plastics material.
